HOW TO START A BLOG WITH $50
Hey there! Are you curious what it takes to start a blog? Or, have you thought about starting one yourself but just aren’t sure how to set it up? This post will show you the exact directions for starting a beautiful blog with just $50 that will have you earning money in a very short time.
We started this blog in early 2020 right bang in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. All those hours sitting at home really got our creative juices flowing. Ever since we set it up, we have been able to post content regularly while working full-time jobs and parenting a toddler. In just 6 months, we’re hoping to turn our blog into a business that earns us $5000+ dollars a month in passive income. Guess what? You can do it too!
With these instructions, you will be able to start a blog in less than thirty minutes. I will also answer my most asked questions I get related to starting a successful blog.
If you’re interested to see how much you can make from your blog every month, check out some of my peer’s income reports:

- How I Made $23,000 in February 2020 from blogging
- How I Made $19,288.03 in my first 3 months from blogging
Why should you start a blog?
We started our blog to primarily tell OUR story. As a mixed couple, navigating through the world today can get tough at times. We wanted to show the world our perspective on things. It was a great way to meet like minded people and also make some money in the process. To top it, what a fun way to leave something for your kids to read about once they’re older
Are you convinced yet? When we started our blog, getting a domain and deciding whether to sign up on a free platform or a hosted platform was a complex decision to make. After all, why pay when you get a free blog section off one of the free platforms like Blogspot or Wix.
How To Start Your Blog
1. Select a niche
We racked our heads for quite a few days when thinking of a niche to write about. Trust us, if there’s a topic you can think, there’s probably a 100 or so different blogs about it already. However, what’s different is the person who writes the content or their perspective. Think about it, there’s only ONE of you in this world right? I’m pretty sure you mom’s recipes have no match anywhere else in the world. So start a blog just writing about things that interest you. You don’t have to be the best written blog out there but be honest and be genuine in your thoughts. You will find people who follow you.
2. PICK A HOST
We recommend SiteGround. There are quite a few others out there but what separates this host is the efficacy of their technical support. Imagine having a blog with ~1000 views/day being down for an extended period of time. That is a LOT of money lost.
This actually did happen to us. Our site was down for a silly mistake I made but their tech support was able to identify the issue and get us up and running in a very short time
It’s only $3.95/month.Skip getting that packet of chips or candy bar from the vending machine and you’ve paid for it.

3. PICK A DOMAIN NAME
We didn’t know this then but you don’t really need a finalized name when you start your account. There are quite a few site options that you can choose from (.com,.org,.careers, .us, etc) from this host. You can also sign up with an existing domain if you want.
There are some tips when you choose a domain name though
- Think of something that is memorable. Google is a unique name and also quite memorable. Just think ahead and don’t start with a name that you will regret later
- Make it short so that it can be easily shared on social media. You don’t want your followers having to type a gazillion long site name in their messages, do you?
4. PICK A THEME
WordPress has quite a few free themes available for download. However, credibility and simplicity is key. Would you wear clothes that someone picked for you or do you want to have some input into it as well?
We use the Foodie Pro theme from StudioPress in this site. It made things so easier. We spent countless hours trying to read about HTML codes and other website tech stuff but the theme from them just made it quite easy to customize.

4. POST CONTENT
This is the hardest part in the entire process. There are many resourceful blogging planners on Etsy for a nominal rate that you can use. Else, if you need help writing, you can use some of the services provided by sites like Fiverr.
5. DRIVE TRAFFIC TO YOUR SITE
Tailwind has been such a bonus to our web site. Have you ever tried manually adding pins to Pinterest or Instagram. It takes a LOT of time. Using this app will make things so much easier. All you have to do is choose the post, upload images and schedule as far ahead as a month.

…….and that’s really it! Simple isn’t it? Congratulations on starting the process. Hope to talk to you soon.
